Dr. Barbara Ross-Lee was the first African-American woman to be appointed dean of a United States medical school. Her identity is associated with a famous family name, as she is the sister of music legend Diana Ross.

You’re not exactly friendly to the big girls anyway, so this almost feels like asking the KKK to stop using the N-word, but let’s try it anyway.
Plus-sized women more or less have the same aesthetic as straight-sized women. I like simple black dresses, unembellished skirts, good basics, classic colors. All of that. So why on earth are most plus-sized fashions tacky monstrosities?
Let’s take a look at Forever 21.
Here are a selection of straight sized dresses:
It has the usual impossibly tacky gear the F21 carries generally, but a few classic, work appropriate pieces as well.
And now the Plus sizes:
Loud prints, shiny fabrics and not damn thing you could wear to work.
Why isn’t that cute little orange dress in the straight sizes available in a plus size? Why go through the trouble of making whole new dresses just for a different size range? Why not offer the same shit in expanded sizes? WHY?!
And a quick perusal of other sites offering plus-sized fashions within a certain price range will yield similar results.
In order to get work-appropriate basics, you have to go up in your price range. And since for some of us, Old Navy at full price is still kinda high, this really fucking sucks.
In short, Fat women like the same clothes straight-sized women like. So please, just make the cute shit in our size.
This. Not all fat women spend their lives a) at home b) in tacky reggaeton nightclubs. Pretty clothes or GTFO.

Recently, I’ve notice a lot of media around Chris Brown. His performance at the VMA’s being widely and enthusiastically received. It saddens me so much for Rihanna, imagine someone beating you so badly, having it nationally publicized, that person barely serving any sort of sentence and then having him applauded at an award show.
I am a domestic violence survivor, and please listen when I tell you, people like that do not change. Their anger may lay dormant for a while, but it will never go away. Abuse is about power and control, and the desire for those two things can not be taken away by some sort of bullshit therapy. Chris Brown was barely given a slap on the wirst, after beating his girlfriend, who he was supposed to LOVE.
No amount of singing and dance, no theatrical performances are going to change each punch and kick and bite. And it never should. Please reblog.

So Torchwood, heroic characters blowing up/torching buildings in order to protest against bad stuff the governments been up to? You may find yourself slightly out of tune with the current public mood there.
yes, I could trawl tags in tumblr, I could google the night away, but we’ve tried a bunch of numbers we got off google already and it hasn’t been great so far. my friend is currently safe but she needs to talk to somebody who won’t focus just on her kids being witnesses (she does not wish to file a report at this time, which is her right).
