“People hate her, they really do. Did you know that to Yoko someone is a verb in America? It is something that boys say if they’re hanging out with you too much and they’re going to school or they have a band. It’s almost a myth that’s used to suppress women. Y’know, ‘You’re gonna Yoko me. You’re gonna destroy me.’ And this woman put up with racial inequality from Fleet Street, she put up with being accused of breaking up the best band in the world, she put up with people’s idea that she castrated this man and then, worst of all, she had her best friend, her husband, the person she lived for, die in her arms in front of a fortress that she’d hidden herself in for 20 years. And I just feel that the world media should apologize to her because she handled it with so much dignity.” Courtney Love about Yoko Ono, 1993

Don’t forget the reason Yoko was even at the studio with the Beatles and all that was because Lennon was a controlling abuser and forced her to be with him at all times to the extent that she wasn’t even allowed to use the bathroom without him coming.

I want everyone to think long and hard on this information.
This means that you are not buying your games.  You are paying 60+ dollars to rent the games from Microsoft, and they can take their game back whenever they feel like it.
You will not own your game.  You will not own your console.  Essentially, Microsoft is saying “We can disable your games and cut you off from accessing your console whenever we choose to.”  Because a ban that locks your XBox Live account means that you will be locked out from all non-game functionality of the system, and by revoking your ‘licenses’ on all your games associated with your account, they can then disable each and every game you own for the system.  Leaving you with a five hundred dollar cable receiver.  Or, in the case of most users of the console, a five hundred dollar paperweight.
All because you accidentally walked into some online glitch and the rest of the players rage-report you for cheating.
This is unacceptable.  Buy any console but an XBox One.  Do not support Microsoft’s sudden belief that they own everything despite our purchase of it, and we have to prove we’re worthy of being shared with by paying exorbitant fees and jumping through constant hoops and hoping someone doesn’t report us for cheating because we made them mad in an online game.
Tell Microsoft ‘No,’ and do not give them your hard-earned money for what amounts to a video game subscription service with a $500 starting fee and $60+ dollar purchases.

There are way too many people that get banned unfairly. This is bullshit. I let my nephew play on my live account once when he was little, and I got a lot of people reporting me just because he was playing like a five year old. So. Cool.

A video game console should be something you can play anywhere you can get a screen to view it on and a power supply. Period. Internet requirements should only be necessary for online multiplayer games, never for ANYTHING else.

Not that I was planning on doing that from the start. There’s really no use sticking around with xbox if I’m gonna have to log in every single goddamn day just so I can play a game.
I have nothing else really to say on the matter, except that Xbox One is not going to be found in or anywhere near my household.

The Myth That Rape Rarely Causes Pregnancy Comes From Nazi Experiments

thepoliticalfreakshow:

I don’t understand why Republicans continue to offer up headlines like “GOP congressman: Rate of pregnancies from rape is ‘very low.’ ” It is terrible politics for them to focus the public’s attention on their justification for the fact that they don’t support an exception to abortion bans for rape victims. The view doesn’t have anything like majority support, and they come off as heartless, ignorant scolds. If I were an anti-abortion activist, I’d want to muzzle these people. But they are irrepressible.

At a congressional hearing Wednesday, Rep. Trent Franks, a Republican from Arizona, argued against an exception for rape and incest victims from a ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. He said, “Before, when my friends on the left side of the aisle here tried to make rape and incest the subject—because, you know, the incidence of rape resulting in pregnancy are very low.” He is of course following in the footsteps of former Rep. Todd Akin of Missouri, who said that women can stave off pregnancy after a “legitimate rape.” (He apologized but that didn’t save him from losing his next election.)

These claims are false, of course, or as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists puts it, “medically inaccurate, offensive, and dangerous.” That is not all that’s wrong with the claims. They originate with Nazi experiments on women in concentration camps. Here’s what I wrote about this last November

“In the aftermath of Akin’s statement, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on a 1972 essay by an obstetrician named Fred Mecklenburg, who cited a Nazi experiment in which women were told they were on their way to die in the gas chambers—and then were allowed to live, so that doctors could check whether they would still ovulate. Since few did, Mecklenburg claimed that women exposed to the emotional trauma of rape wouldn’t be able to become pregnant, either. (He also argued that rapists are infertile because they masturbate a lot.) The essay was published in a book financed by A.U.L.”

A.U.L. is Americans United for Life, a pro-life advocacy group with increasing clout because of its success in drafting model state laws to restrict abortion. The line from the Nazis to Mecklenburg to Akin and Franks runs through Jack Wilke, a doctor who is the former head of the National Right to Life Committee.

He said, “What is certainly one of the most important reasons why a rape victim rarely gets pregnant, and that’s physical trauma.” And he stuck with this when the Los Angeles Times called to ask him about Akin last year. When I asked A.U.L. head Charmaine Yoest about the claim that rape rarely results in pregnancy, she was smarter and called it “a distraction.”

Abortion opponents sure do keep bringing it up, though.

Let’s play a game where you buy me a WiiU.

  • men get into something not aimed at their gender: get special titles like "brony." recognition by creators. heralded for defying gender appeal. get documentary.
  • women get into something not aimed at their gender: not real fans. probably secret friend zone warriors deadset on erasing men from the human race. get insulting demeaning memes and sexual harassment.

Commentary.

In February, I posted two pieces in Bed-Stuy on Tompkins and Halsey. These two pieces got the most attention of any pieces I’ve put up so far. Within a few days, someone had written his response to the work directly onto the posters. From there, a woman wrote a response to him. And it went on and, on with different hand-written comments creating this kind of interesting discussion. The pieces remained up until a week or so ago, when the phallic image was drawn. That’s when I decided to try to take them down.

The “Stop Telling Women to Smile” piece remained in tact enough for me to include it in the exhibition. I thought it was important to present in the show, so that people could view these written reactions.

I love when assertive women scare men to such an extent that they have to resort to infantile shit like this.

They think it will shut women up, but it really just fuels everything further, I hope they know that.

The “devolution” of the poster is more interesting to me than the originals, which I’ve reblogged before.

The fact that a man decided to comment on the poster physically, and was the first to do so, says a lot. Whenever women defend ourselves we get these counter arguments. We get people in general, and not just men, trying to cut down our personal initiatives. And when women, like on the poster, attempt to hold a real discussion we get the brunt of the “dick solution” where we are told that we hate men, we haven’t had a “dick that was good” or we get a penis drawn on the poster meant to make a social commentary about our “place.”

I’ve reblogged the individual posters before because I understand them as a victim of the suggestions. But I’m reblogging them now to show the attempt to keep women in their societal place in our culture.

An excellent example of men not getting the point about street harassment.

“You find our unwanted projections of our opinions of you to be bothersome? Well … well … well … DICKS, THAT’S WHAT! DICKS!!!

Serious grade-schooler shit here.  Grow the fuck up.

Sighs.

I’m kind of embarrassed by this as a guy. Although I do know we tend to put an undue amount of emphasis on our genitals as the solution to all of life’s problems. Being ornery? RIDE MY DICK! Lesbian? RIDE MY DICK! Depressed? RIDE MY DICK! Just got fired? RIDE MY DICK! *sigh*

And emphasis mine.

Yeahhh, this is a good example of why feminism still needs to be a thing.

TW Creepshots

Can anyone identify any of the following locations? These seem to be likely spots for tumblr user and creeper sacredfemales. People have so far said this is likely to be in Australia (probably Victoria or New South Wales). “Aquila” (visible in one of the shots) seems to be a men’s shoe store in Melbourne and the cashpoint at top shows a “Westpac” logo - also Australian.

Sacredfemales is also uploading sexualised images of his wife from inside their home that she is unaware of. Please help us find out where he is creeping from.

So you don’t believe women exist?

Its okay. I’m an atheist because I don’t believe in something I can’t see or touch. I suppose women are much like that for you.

Somebody get him some ice.

Here’s a map showing the world divided up by the three (although the yellow type includes red peoples) colours of the people across the planet.
This seems so archaic, but western society is actually still based on these “three races.” Police reports will say “caucasoid” “negroid” or “mongoloid” to indicate a person’s race, regardless of the fact that these categories are largely arbitrary.

Ugh

I think if there was a Tumblr fandom prom Hannibal would win homecoming king and or queen because everyone seems to like them and their in-jokes are definitely the least abrasive.

it’s okay, i think george clooney is whatever and i think harrison ford (even young) is just an ugly man. also have no love for robert downey jr
I think Clooney’s hot now, but only because he has grey hair tbh, agreed on the others, totally!

I don’t get the Loki fandom

He just looks like a basement-dweller MRA who needs a wash to me.

The sort of guy who says “Have you heard of Ron Paul though?”

Ew.

“What Women Deserve,” Sonya Renee

Culturally-diversified bi-racial girl,

with a small diamond nose-ring

and a pretty smile
poses beside the words: “Women deserve better”.

And I almost let her non-threatening grin begin to
infiltrate my psyche
-
till I read the unlikely small-print at the bottom of the ad.
‘Sponsored by the US Secretariate for Pro Life Activities
and the Knights of Columbus’
on a bus, in a city with a populaton of 563,000.

Four teenage mothers on the bus with me.
One latino woman with three children under three,
and no signs of a daddy.
One sixteen year old black girl,
standing in twenty two degree weather
with only a sweater,
and a bookbag,
and a bassinet, with an infant that ain’t even four weeks yet

Tell me that yes: Women do deserve better.

Women deserve better
than public transportation rhetoric
from the same people who won’t give that teenage mother
a ride to the next transit.
Won’t let you talk to their kids about safer sex,
and never had to listen as the door slams
behind the man
who adamantly says “that SHIT ain’t his”
-
leaving her to wonder how she’ll raise this kid.

Women deserve better than the three hundred dollars
TANF and AFDC will provide that family of three.
Or the six dollar an hour job at KFC
with no benefits for her new baby-
or the college degree she’ll never see,
because you can’t have infants at the university.
Women deserve better
than lip-service paid for by politicians
who have no alternatives to abortion.
Though I’m sure right now
one of their seventeen year old daughters
is sitting in a clinic lobby, sobbing quietly
and anonymously,
praying parents don’t find out-
Or is waiting for mom to pick her up because
research shows that out-of-wedlock childbirth
don’t look good on political polls.
And Sarah ain’t having that.

Women deserve better
than backward governmental policies
that don’t want to pay for welfare for kids,
or healthcare for kids,
or childcare for kids.
Don’t want to pay living wages to working mothers.
Don’t want to make men who only want to be
last night’s lovers
responsible for the semen they lay.
Just like [they] don’t want to pay for shit,
but want to control the woman who’s having it.

Acting outraged at abortion,
when I’m outraged that they want us to believe
that they believe
“Women deserve better”.

The Vatican won’t prosecute pedophile priests,
but I decide I’m not ready for motherhood
and it’s condemnation for me.
These are the same people
who won’t support national condom distribution
to prevent teenage pregnancy—
But women deserve better.

Women deserve better
than back-alley surgeries
that leave our wombs barren and empty.
Deserve better than organizations bearing the name
of land-stealing, racist, rapists
funding million dollar campaigns on subway trains
with no money to give these women—
While balding, middle-aged white men
tell us what to do with our bodies,
while they wage wars and kill other people’s babies.

So maybe,
Women deserve better than propaganda and lies
to get into office.
Propaganda and lies
to get into panties,
to get out of court,
to get out of paying child-support.
Get the fuck out of our decisions
and give us back our VOICE.

Women do deserve better.

Women deserve choice.

Go in!
