I am NOT slut-shaming. You could have sex once and become pregnant and I would say the same thing. And it would be wonderful for men to have to go through the same thing, but they can’t, so their responsibility is limited to supporting the mother.

This is the biggest difference between men and women. It is a woman’s responsibility to bring life into this world, she’s the one that has to go through it the long, slow, invasive process. And last time I checked there are permanent ways to make sure that a woman won’t have to bring a child into this world. (My mom had a tube-tying operation after my little brother was born.) And temporary so that these operations can be reversed. I had a christian up-bringing, I’ll admit it, both sides of this issue speaking to me. A fetus is a human being. If you want to enjoy having sex, but you don’t want a kid you better make damn sure that you can’t have a kid. There are thousands of contraception means out there. I’m on the pill! But if you get pregnant and you weren’t raped or it won’t physically or mentally harm you then it is your responsibility to be an incubator, to use your words, because there isn’t any other way to do it.

If you hadn’t directly contradicted me and colored my words into negative and wrong, implying that I need to keep reasoning until I see things like you, then I’ll be right, I wouldn’t have gotten angry. But this is something close to my heart because I agonized over every detail before my boyfriend and I took that step. Seriously, agonized. I applied every argument for healthy women to myself as a senior in high school. Every single one. I put my boyfriend off for months, telling him that if I became pregnant, every option would be devastating to me. Yes, I realized that giving away the baby you’ve given birth to is hard and emotionally heart-breaking. Yes, giving birth is the one of the most painful, traumatic processes in the world. But you conceived a child by actions of your own free will, and killing it is only to spare yourself of pregnancy, birth and emotional scars from giving the child away. Not to say that abortion doesn’t leave scars. I’ll never know because I don’t think I’ve ever heard a report from a woman who has had an abortion.

I’m not replying to anything else I see about this. I made my point, I’m sticking with it. And I shall refrain from posting anything else about this issue on my tumblr page.

I was going to reply to this nonsense, but then I realised there’s no point in talking to someone who genuinely thinks “It is a woman’s responsibility to bring life into this world”
