Look, I get the whole “The Irish were oppressed too” argument comes from real history. But um…the Irish aren’t still oppressed in America. One of the historic sundown areas in Chicago? Majority Irish. Actually a lot of them are if we’re going to be honest. South Side Irish is an identity and a threat here for black people. And I’m not talking sepia toned pics of yesteryear like the riots of 1919. I’m talking Lenard Clark in 1998. I’m talking cops on the street today in 2012. Spare me “the Irish were oppressed” unless you can talk about the Irish being oppressive.

Everytime I see someone pull this shit they’re USian.

It’s like they heard a rumour once that Irish people got abused somewhere in the world and they’ve gone “Oh super! I can claim that now!”

TBH unless you’re living in ROI or the UK I’m not interested in you “Irish are oppressed” shit. There’s actual shit going on here that you have no right to be jumping on if you’re not actually experiencing it.
